After working for a major investment bank in New York for a number of years, Tom Malthus (a pseudonym) has relocated to Asia. During his time in New York, Tom gained significant exposure to the global macro-environment with a special emphasis on the US and Latin American markets. Since relocating to Asia, Tom has begun focusing heavily on the region, specifically targeting the mainland Chinese, Hong Kong, and Taiwanese markets. Tom is working on gaining a better understanding of domestic developments and analyzing their linkages with the rest of the world. Currently, he is the author and creator of the blog Fiat Economics. Tom has considerable experience advising hedge funds, investment banks, SWFs, and various other financial organizations on the global macro outlook and pricing issues.
Prior to working on Wall Street, Tom graduated from Rutgers University, and worked as a strategist for a public policy research firm specializing on health care issues. Tom also enjoys photography.
