--(www.USEquityNews.com)-- 12/06/2007 - Fast Food Franchise industry alert provided by U.S. Equity News. Sonic Corp. (NASDAQ: SONC), the nation's largest chain of drive-in restaurants, recently announced continued sales momentum for the first fiscal quarter of 2008, which ended on November 30, 2007. Despite a slow start in the month of September, estimated same-store sales were within the company's target range of 2% to 4% for partner drive-ins and near the lower end of the target range for the system. Partner drive-ins are drive-ins in which the company owns a majority interest.
Burger King Corp. (NYSE: BKC) announced it has launched a marketing campaign highlighting its diversity and inclusion initiatives nationwide. The "Real People, Real Success" campaign shines the spotlight on BKC's diverse employees, suppliers and franchisees. The first ad from the campaign appeared during the National Council of La Raza's national conference in Miami (July 21-24), the premier event for Latinos, hosted by the largest Hispanic civil rights advocacy organization in the country.
IHOP (NYSE: IHP), one of America's favorite restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner, announced recently that it has written the governors of the 15 states planning to have their presidential primaries on February 5, requesting that those governors change their state's primary date in honor of National Pancake Day. As it stands, Super Tuesday conflicts with the centuries-old tradition of National Pancake Day; when IHOP plans to offer free buttermilk pancakes at its more than 1,300 restaurants in a fundraising effort that the company hopes will raise more than $750,000 for local charities nationwide. IHOP fears low voter turnout if the two events go head-to-head, as Americans may be tempted to forgo their patriotic privilege for the fluffy frenzy of free flapjacks.
