Nearly Half of Hyundai Dealerships Report Increase in Business Over Last Month

TickerMine surveyed Hyundai dealerships and learned that the Elantra and the Sonata are the best selling Hyundai models. Forty-five percent of dealerships named the Sonata their top seller, and 30% named the Elantra. The Accent was also popular, at 18%. Only 27% of dealerships polled are offering promotions on SUVs to compensate for the high price of gas. Fifty-eight percent of Hyundai dealerships are offering free satellite radio, in most cases XM. Despite the flagging economy, 45% of dealerships reported an increase in business this month.

72% of Ford Dealerships Offer No Truck Deals and 72% say Business is Down From Last Month

Tickermine revisited the Ford motor company this month soon after the company announced that it saw a net loss of $2.7 billion in 2007, up from a $10 billion loss in 2006. More earnings will be announced in July. We approached 32 dealerships nation wide and asked which model of car or truck sold best, are there any good deals on trucks, given the exorbitant gas prices, is free satellite radio service being offered, and has business jumped since last month? The best selling model for Ford, according to the survey, was the Focus (19 respondents or 59% of the poll.) The F - 150 also sold well (seven respondents or 22% of those polled), and the following were each cited twice or by 6% of respondents: the Escape, the Fusion and the Mustang. We thought it was interesting that 23 respondents or 72% of the poll reported no truck deals being offered, in spite of the nation's gas price crisis. Only nine respondents or 28% of those polled reported offering any deals and these were things like extra rebates - up to $6000 and employee pricing, the 2008 Ford F-150 for $13,995 or simply zero interest on the F-150. 16 respondents or 50% of the poll said they were offering free satellite radio services to their customers and the same number did not. And as for business, nine respondents or 28% said sales were up from a month ago, but most, 23 respondents or 72% of the poll saw no spike whatsoever.

Most Honda Dealerships Say Business Has Slumped vs Last Month

With the Honda Civic Hybrid being exported to India as the nation’s first Hybrid car, Tickermine approached 29 Honda Dealerships this week. Our researchers asked which model of car or truck sold best, do good truck deals exist, do they offer free satellite radio and are sales up? Sixteen respondents or 55% of those polled said that the Civic sold best. Eight or 28% said that the Accord sold best and after that no model was excelling. Only two respondents, or 6%, said the Element sold well. Another 6% cited the Fit and one or 3% said their CRVs sold best. Meanwhile 20 respondents or 69% reported having no deals on SUVs. Only 9 or 31% said they did.
