Cascades Inc. (Toronto:CAS) (CAS.T) plans to integrate its North American boxboard operations with its containerboard operations, noting that the move will achieve synergies, while enhancing the sharing of technology and creating a larger packaging group.

The Kingsey Falls, Que. company said its Boxboard Group in North America includes four coated boxboard mills, 12 converting plans and employs more than 2,950 people. After the consolidation its containerboard operations will comprise about 50 manufacturing and converting units and more than 7,560 employees.

The company didn't say whether it will incur any costs in connection with the integration, which is aimed at enhancing the boxboard sector's performance.

Cascades produces, converts and markets packaging and tissue products composed mainly of recycled fibers.
