Symbols: CYTX

Cytori (NASDAQ:CYTX) sold its first European Union StemSource® Cell Bank as part of an agreement with Biohellenika (www.biohellenika.gr). Biohellenika, the leading provider of cord blood stem cell banking services in Greece, will be the exclusive provider of the StemSource Cell Bank cryopreservation services in Greece, which is one of the largest markets for cell banking in Europe.

The StemSource Cell Bank is a comprehensive product offering, which allows companies or hospitals to economically process and store their clients’ adipose tissue-derived stem and regenerative cells for potential future use. The foundation of the cell bank is Cytori’s Celution® 900 System, which automates the processing of stem and regenerative cells from adipose tissue to facilitate cryopreservation.

“Providing adults the option to preserve their cells with the StemSource Cell Bank holds great commercial promise in Greece,” said Dr. George Koliakos of Biohellenika. “We are excited about the therapeutic potential of adipose derived stem and regenerative cells and the opportunity to bank these cells from patients undergoing surgical procedures each day. As the leading provider of cord blood cell banking in Greece, we have the experience to immediately and successfully commercialize Cytori’s adipose tissue-based cell banking product.”

The StemSource Cell Bank is being marketed on Cytori’s behalf to hospitals in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand exclusively by Green Hospital Supply (GHS). In addition, Cytori is commercializing the StemSource Cell Bank directly in Europe and the Middle East and additional countries in Asia.
