NCM’s Fathom and Roadside Attractions
Present National Town Hall on the Big Screen on Aug. 21

looking for solutions to the ever-growing financial challenges being
faced today and in the future. I.O.U.S.A.:
Live with Warren Buffett, Pete Peterson & Dave Walker
addresses these challenges while offering solutions in a one-night-only,
exclusive in-theatre event on Thursday, August 21. Theatres across
America will become community town halls as five of the nation’s
most notable financial leaders and policy experts engage in a 45-minute
LIVE panel discussion following the viewing of the acclaimed documentary “I.O.U.S.A.”

chairman of the CATO Institute; Bill Novelli, CEO of AARP; Pete
Peterson, senior chairman of The Blackstone Group and chairman of the
Peter G. Peterson Foundation; and Dave Walker, president & CEO of the
Peter G. Peterson Foundation and former U.S. Comptroller General engage
in an informative panel discussion LIVE from Omaha, Neb. The discussion
will explore the growth of the national debt and what can be done to
make the nation more fiscally sound. Questions will be taken from the
live audience in Omaha and through www.IOUSATheMovie.com.
The event echoes the Concord Coalition’s “Fiscal
Wake-Up Tour” that has brought an honest
economic discussion to town halls in more than 40 cities over two years.
Featuring Walker, the tour addresses the nation’s
growing financial challenges and discusses possible solutions to the
looming economic dangers faced by all generations.
“Our nation suffers from a fiscal cancer that
threatens the future economic well-being of our country, children and
grandchildren,” says Walker. “This
isn’t just a financial issue –
it’s a moral issue. It is immoral to keep
kicking this can down the road for younger generations to grapple with.
It’s time for real action rather than more
rhetoric.”
NCM Fathom, the Peterson Foundation and Roadside Attractions (“Super
Size Me”), in association with Agora
Financial, The Concord Coalition and the AICPA, present I.O.U.S.A.:
Live with Warren Buffett, Pete Peterson & Dave Walker on
the big screen in high-definition with Cinema Surround Sound in more
than 350 select AMC, Celebration! Cinema, Cinemark USA Inc., Clearview
Cinemas, Goodrich Quality Theaters, Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres, Marcus
Theatres, National Amusements and Regal Entertainment Group movie
theatres, as well as the Penn Cinema (Lititz, PA) through NCM’s
exclusive Digital Broadcast Network – North
America’s largest cinema broadcast network.
The critically acclaimed “I.O.U.S.A.”
documentary, directed by Patrick Creadon (“Wordplay”),
follows the “Fiscal Wake-Up Tour”
and tells the story of America’s four key
deficits – budget, savings, balance of
payments and leadership – and their
implications for the nation and U.S. citizens. Americans are faced with
an ever-expanding government and military, increased foreign
competition, and financial obligations that will become ever more
difficult to honor absent meaningful reforms. As 78 million baby boomers
begin to retire and collect benefits from over-extended entitlement
programs, an economic crisis of epic proportions awaits. Using candid
interviews, archival footage and economic data, “I.O.U.S.A.”
presents a vivid, alarming profile of America’s
current financial status. The conclusion offers suggestions for how best
to recreate a fiscally sound nation for future generations. The “I.O.U.S.A.”
documentary will open in theatres in 10 cities on Aug. 22.
“Fathom is proud to bring this powerful
event to Americans looking for solutions to the growing economic crisis
faced by everyone,” said Dan Diamond, vice
president of Fathom. “This is a
first-of-its-kind opportunity to hear from our country’s
top financiers and policy experts, including Warren Buffett, in local
community movie theatres and is a must-see for anyone looking to gain a
better understanding of what they can do –
not only today but for future generations as well.”
