Blue Coat Systems, a provider of WAN application delivery and secure web gateway, has announced that Banca Popolare di Vicenza, an Italian bank, has selected Blue Coat ProxySG appliances for a combination of WAN optimization, to accelerate applications and file access to branch offices, and integrated web security and policy control.
The appliances are claimed to manage and distribute corporate video to employees in branch offices. The company said that deploying Blue Coat ProxySG appliances in branch offices enables the bank's primary customer application, called Secnew, to operate correctly and responsively for its tellers. The appliances also deliver programming from the bank's corporate television channel, the BPViChannel, to branch office employees.
Carlo Finetto, assistant general manager of Servizi Bancari, said: "We have satisfied the requirements of the flagship bank through integrating seventy new branches in just a few days and are now beginning steps to reach one hundred. Our new infrastructure assures the operational staff of each branch the continuity of service they must have, together with improved operability."
