Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb, Playhouse Disney’s
“Choo-Choo Soul” and
New York Times best-selling author Anna Dewdney are among those
scheduled to appear at the 2008
Boston Globe Children’s Book Festival,
presented by Target. The free event will take place from 11:00 a.m. –
5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, on the Boston Common.
The 2008 Boston Globe Children’s Book
Festival, held rain or shine, will feature author readings and musical
performances from a diverse group of writers and performers. In addition
to activities on the main stage, there will be appearances by costumed
characters, a host of interactive games for children, author signings
and much more. The larger-than-life Target “Big
Red Chair,” which measures almost five feet
wide and serves as the symbol of Target’s
commitment to early childhood reading, will be on stage throughout the
festival.
Best known for the platinum-selling No. 1 hit “Stay
(I Missed You)” from the film Reality Bites,
Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb
collaborated with Elizabeth Mitchell on the children’s
CD and companion book “Catch The Moon”
(2004), which earned the prestigious Parent’s
Choice Award. In June 2008, Ms. Loeb issued her second children’s
CD, “Camp Lisa”
featuring both traditional and new summer camp songs and several special
guests including Steve Martin (on banjo), Kay Hanley, Nina Gordon, Maia
Sharp, Jill Sobule, Dave Gibbs and Lee Sklar. In conjunction with the
release of “Camp Lisa,”
Ms. Loeb started the Camp Lisa Foundation, a non-profit organization
that is raising funds to help send underprivileged kids to summer camp
through its partnership with S.C.O.P.E. (Summer Camp Opportunities
Provide an Edge).
Ms. Loeb will be joined at the festival by author Anna Dewdney, the
best-selling author of “Llama, Llama Mad at
Mama” and “No Bunny’s
Perfect,” and Jarrett J.
