Aug. 15--Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will stop production for two weeks, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, according to Richard Evans, plant spokesman.
The shutdown also is happening at other Goodyear plants in North America.
"We are in a situation where we have to reduce production levels to align with industry demand," Evans said.
About 3,000 people work at the plant, which produces about 34,000 tires per day. The plant most recently stopped production over the July Fourth weekend, Evans said.
Goodyear is one of Cumberland County's largest employers.
