Macricostas Family Scholarships Foundation Assists Children of
Photronics Employees
The Macricostas Family Scholarship Foundation, a not-for-profit
organization, announced today that it has awarded a total of $60,000 to
31 deserving college students whose parents are employed by Photronics,
Inc. (Nasdaq: PLAB) for the 2008/2009 academic year. The Foundation,
established in 1997 with an initial endowment of $500,000 by the family
of Photronics chairman and founder Constantine (“Deno”)
Macricostas, has awarded over $547,000 in scholarship awards since its
inception. The Foundation’s mission is to
provide financial assistance to children of Photronics’
employees who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and
personal character.
Mr. Macricostas, who is also the benefactor of several community-based
scholarship awards, is resolute in his belief that education is the most
important tool to equip young people for the future. “Education
has allowed me to achieve a level of success that was unimaginable in my
youth. It is key to one's success - especially in today's challenging
environment. Our scholarship recipients are the stewards and leaders of
our future and the Foundation is proud to play a small role in helping
them achieve their personal, civic and global goals," explained Mr.
Macricostas.
The Macricostas Family Scholarship Foundation was created to recognize
and encourage deserving students whose parents are employed at
Photronics. The Foundation was created to help defray the cost of higher
education. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic
performance, participation in school, community-related extra-curricular
activities, and essay submissions. Scholarship awards are determined by
an independent committee and administered by the Photronics Human
Resources Department.
