At its regularly scheduled meeting, the Board of Directors of
Transatlantic Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: TRH) elected Kenneth Apfel,
Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary. Mr. Apfel was also elected
to a similar title with Transatlantic Reinsurance Company, a subsidiary
of TRH.
