Fujitsu Siemens Computers has won a three-year contract from Daimler AG to operate its European Data Centre, which provides server operation and the integration of new hardware, databases and applications to the group companies across the globe. Datamonitor expects the contract to be worth $36m.
Under the managed services contract, the company will operate 5,000 servers and 1,500 databases to help the company reduce costs and improve data center performance. The company will also provide maintenance of software environments, and develop and administer technical and process-related service order information using a knowledge database.
Richard Schlauri, executive vice president of Infrastructure Services at Fujitsu Siemens Computers, said: "This contract is a mark of confidence in our Managed Data Center competence, and another step for us to become a full-line provider of products and services to establish and operate efficient and highly-available infrastructures."
Earlier this year, the company won a managed services contract from SAP AG to operate and support its online and backup storage in its SAP Hosting data centers, which handle more than 200 TB of data every day.
