The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.

In July, Verizon launched its FiOS TV service in New York City, where it will make available 100 high-definition TV channels. The Big Apple franchise covers 3 million premises, and Verizon already passes about 25 percent with fiber.

Verizon does not offer FiOS TV service in the Capital Region, but has built an all-fiber network in several communities, and sells FiOS Internet services in parts of these communities: Albany, Altamont, Cohoes, Colonie, Delmar, Feura Bush, Glenmont, Guilderland, Latham, Loudonville, Niskayuna, Schenectady, Scotia, Selkirk, Slingerlands and Watervliet.
