Company Expands Presence and Consolidates Operations
WASHINGTON, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation
(NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology
company, has moved into two new facilities in the Washington, DC area to
handle its ongoing expansion and to provide better proximity to its growing
base of U.S. government customers. Harris, ranked among the top 25 government
contractors, has 1,500 employees in the metropolitan DC area dedicated to
supporting vital national security, defense and civil programs.
The company recently moved its business development, government relations
and public affairs staff from Alexandria, Virginia into a 14,000-square-foot
suite of offices on Maryland Avenue at the L'Enfant Plaza metro stop in
Washington, D.C. The location provides the staff closer proximity to the
numerous government departments and agencies that it services, as well as to
Capitol Hill. The new Harris facility features encrypted wireless access,
state-of-the-art video and display conference facilities, two multi-media
customer briefing centers, and a roof top deck.
In addition, Harris has consolidated its IT Services headquarters in a new
facility at 12000 Atlantic Blvd. in Dulles, Virginia -- eight miles north of
Washington Dulles International Airport. The new 50,000-square-foot facility
is an environmentally friendly office space that incorporates several
substantive waste reduction and energy conservation practices.
