Cascades amongst the top 100 employers in Canada

KINGSEY FALLS, QC, Oct. 3 /CNW Telbec/ - Cascades Inc. (CAS on the Toronto Stock Exchange) is proud to be showcased as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers by Mediacorp Canada. This competition recognizes employers that excel in recruiting and retaining quality employees within their company.

In order to come up with such a list, the jury compared the performance of the candidates with other actors in their industry, in the following eight (8) categories: physical work environment, atmosphere at work, employee benefits linked to health, to finance and to the family, vacation and holidays, communication with employees, performance management, training and commitment to the community. This year, a record number of more than 2000 employers participated in the application process.

"This distinction shows once again how high Cascades ranks with regards to sustainable development in general and HR management in particular", declared Maryse Fernet, Vice-President of Human Resources at Cascades.

For a ninth consecutive year, the Canada's Top 100 Employers contest was orchestrated by Mediacorp Canada, the largest Canadian editor of handbooks and periodicals devoted to job seekers. With the 2009 title, Cascades has made its mark for the fifth time on Mediacorp's top employer lists.

Founded in 1964, Cascades produces, converts and markets packaging and tissue products composed mainly of recycled fibres. Cascades employs nearly 14,000 men and women who work in some 100 modern and flexible production units located in North America and in Europe. Cascades' management philosophy, its almost 45 years of experience in recycling, its continuous efforts in research and development are strengths which enable the company to create innovative products for its customers. The Cascades shares trade on the Toronto stock exchange under the ticker symbol CAS.
