NEW YORK, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cohen & Steers, Inc. (NYSE: CNS) announced today a pending change to its Realty Majors Portfolio Index (RMP) effective at the close of business on October 7, 2008.

    Component change:     Deletion and Replacement
    Index Name:           Cohen & Steers Realty Majors Portfolio Index
    Index Symbol:         RMP
    Calculation method:   Modified Capitalization Weighted Index
    Deleted component symbol:  GGP
    Deleted component name:    General Growth Properties, Inc.
    Replacement component symbol:  HCN
    Replacement component name:    Health Care REIT, Inc.

The Realty Majors Portfolio Index is a modified capitalization-weighted total return index of selected real estate equity securities. It is quoted intraday on a real-time basis by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange under the symbol RMP. The index's modified capitalization-weighted approach and qualitative screening process emphasize companies that the Cohen & Steers Index Committee believes are leading the securitization of real estate in the United States.

RMP can be used as an indexing benchmark, stock selection universe, underlying index for derivative instruments or performance benchmark. All index weightings are independently calculated by Standard & Poor's.
