--(www.USEquityNews.com)-- 10/06/2008 - Defense industry alert provided by U.S. Equity News. Brite-Strike Tactical Illumination Products, Inc. (Other OTC:BSTI.PK) announced recently that it and Glenn Bushee, President of the Company, were awarded US Patent No. 7,350,692, for a Solar Powered Mailbox/Driveway Lamp. The product, the first commercial product the company has developed which utilizes LED lighting powered exclusively by small solar panels, will be introduced in 2009. The Company plans on developing and distributing products which have the potential to revolutionize the use of LED lighting in this country, through a wholly owned division, Brite-Strike Technologies. "This product will be our first entry that marries the energy efficiency of LED light with the portability of solar," said Glenn Bushee, President of Brite-Strike. "The technology we developed for our revolutionary tactical flashlights has direct applications for many lighting applications, as we can produce a light far brighter than those currently available in the marketplace. LED lights only use 5% of the equivalent energy of incandescent lights, with almost no heat, so developing products utilizing this technology can make major inroads in cutting energy consumption in this country. Our first product will be of the highest quality, and will function as a driveway lamp with mailbox light, address number lights, and an optional motion-activated light with camera-all powered by solar, with no external wiring required. It will offer incredible value for the consumer. We have other more significant products which we are working on, which will be announced in the weeks to come," said Mr. Bushee.

The Raytheon-led team was formed using OpenAIR(TM), Raytheon's open business model which uses the best of large and small business and academia to provide the best value solution. Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has received a $128 million firm fixed-priced contract from the U.S. Army to provide Lightweight Laser Designator Rangefinder (LLDR) systems, which provide battle-proven targeting capability for laser-guided, GPS-guided and conventional munitions. Work will be performed at the company's Laser Systems facility in Apopka, Fla., by the existing workforce of nearly 1,000 employees. ``The LLDR is a mission critical system that is being used by our warfighters on a daily basis to provide the highly reliable, precision targeting capability they need,'' said Gordon Stewart, vice president and general manager of the company's Laser Systems business unit. ``The LLDR system allows warfighters to pin-point targets for precision guided weapons and digitally transmit target location data to the tactical network. ``This contract will not only help to stabilize our workforce at Apopka, but will also continue to provide a positive economic impact on the local community,'' he added. Northrop Grumman's LLDR accurately targets enemy positions during the day, at night and in nearly all battlefield conditions including haze, smoke, fog and rain. It provides a unique capability to forward observers and forward air controllers. The system can recognize targets; find the range to a target with an eye-safe laser wavelength; and calculate grid coordinates with built-in GPS, elevation and azimuth sensing capability. The system then provides this information to other digital battlefield systems. The LLDR can also be used with semi-active laser-guided munitions and laser spot trackers.
