Oct. 6--Westar Energy, Horizon Wind Energy and Empire District Electric will dedicate the Meridian Way Wind Farm at Iron Road and Highway 81 in Cloud County on Tuesday.
Horizon Wind Energy expects about 250 landowners as well as state and local leaders to attend.
The wind farm is a 201 megawatt project owned and operated by Horizon Wind Energy. Empire District Electric, in Joplin, Mo., will buy energy produced by the 105 megawatts in the project's first phase.
Westar Energy will buy energy produced from the 96 megawatts in the second phase.
