Oct. 6--WOODLAWN -- Community First Bank will be building a new 1,776 square-foot banking facility in Woodlawn, and expects to break ground this month.
According to bank president Jo David Cummins, a grand opening is slated for spring 2009.
"The board, management and employees of the bank are excited about upgrading our banking presence in Woodlawn and from talking to residents in and around Woodlawn, the excitement for the new building runs both ways," Cummins stated.
The bank in Woodlawn has been serving the community for more than 100 years with continuous banking service -- and served customers through the Depression Era.
The new location is directly across from Woodlawn Grade School and next to the Woodlawn Village Hall. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 16, and the public is invited to participate.
The bank has locations in Woodlawn, Mt. Vernon and Ina.
