Panel Discussion on Quality and How the Environment of Care Impacts Quality and Business Results

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- C-level executives will learn how to improve the quality of hospital care and how the physical environment of care impacts quality during a conference at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center in Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 10.

Trane and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) have partnered to offer this professional learning opportunity for ACHE members. The event will open with a presentation about how to improve the quality of care followed by a panel discussion about how the hospital environment affects quality of care, productivity, employee satisfaction and business results.

Nearly 1,200 evidence-based design studies, validated by groups such as Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, have directly connected the physical environment of the hospital with quality, patient satisfaction, staff satisfaction, productivity and financial performance.

Secrets of Great Healthcare Organizations -- A Study of 200 U.S. Hospitals

Chip Caldwell, FACHE, president of Chip Caldwell & Associates, and former hospital chief executive officer and executive vice president of Juran Institute's Healthcare Practice, will present 'Secrets of Great Healthcare Organizations' drawn from a study of 200 U.S. hospitals. Caldwell will discuss how to implement an action plan to bring and keep costs down while improving patient care. He will address:

  • The role of Lean-Six Sigma in optimizing capacity and eliminating the cost of quality
  • 'Big Q' strategies with sequences of projects over time vs. 'Little Q' projects one at a time
  • Required infrastructure and resources to optimize the power of Lean Six-Sigma
  • Roles of senior leaders and managers

Quality and Its Impact on the Environment of Care

Thomas C. Dolan, Ph.D., FACHE, CAE, president and chief executive officer, ACHE, will lead a panel discussion on 'The Environment of Care and Its Impact on Quality.' C-level executives from three hospital systems will participate in the panel.
