I have used many fx platforms and on the majority of them I find the execution is not good during market moving announcements. The margin calls are unforgiving as they do not give you a chance to deposit.

Oanda is good for executions. They do require more down in margin but also pay interest in real time if someone is buying the higher yielding currency.

FXCM is better on research and tools. They are also still bigger than Oanda corporately and asset wise.
